About
Annie grew up in central Virginia, moved to southern California at 17, and has called Santa Cruz home for the last 12 years. She’s traveled to nearly every state (with hopes of photographing a wedding in Hawaii or Alaska to complete her list!), and while she has a deep love for many parts of the country, she’s always eager to return to the place that means the most to her; a vast canyon nestled among the redwoods on the north coast of Santa Cruz.
Annie fell in love with wet plate collodion photography through a deep appreciation for history, antiques, and the art of image-making. This passion for the old and meaningful is reflected in her lifestyle. Living off-grid, surrounded by nature, and embracing a slower, more intentional way of life. With a background that bridges both digital and analog practices, she brings a thoughtful, hands-on approach to every frame she creates. Whether working with the unpredictable beauty of wet plate or the precision of modern tools, Annie weaves together stories both big and small. Always with the intention of capturing honest, human connection. She works both in the field and from her studio on Squid Row in downtown Santa Cruz, a cozy space filled with vintage charm and old-world elegance, where she creates modern, one-of-a-kind portraits using this historic process. For Annie, creating tintypes is a way to stay connected to the past while living fully in the present, crafting images that are as enduring and honest as the world around her.
